What age groups do you work with?
Children (from as young as 5 and their parents/carers), adolescents, adults and older people.
What are the fees?
Fees vary depending on the service being provided. For therapy services our fees range from $210 to $260 per 50 minute consultation. The cost of psychological assessments are dependent upon the nature of the assessment being sought, consultation required with external agencies (eg. schools and other professionals) and complexity of the circumstances. Assessment costs vary (on average) between $1,000 to $3,000. In response to your initial enquiry fees will be discussed.
Am I able to claim a Medicare rebate?
You are able to claim a rebate from Medicare for therapy sessions with Dr Davinia Shannahan. Therapy consultations with Ben Shannahan are not currently eligible for Medicare rebates.
In order to claim a rebate from Medicare, you would need to obtain a referral and Mental Health Care Plan from your GP. We are able to process your Medicare claim at point of payment.
Under the Better Access initiative, you are able to access up to 10 rebatable sessions per calendar year.
Can I access support with an NDIS plan?
Whilst we are not a registered NDIS provider, we are able to support people who have self-managed or plan managed NDIS funding.
Do you accept private health insurance?
Rebates are available from some private health insurers for some of the services we offer. We recommend that you liaise with your insurance provider to be aware of any conditions / limitations of your cover.
Is there a waiting list?
The wait times before availability arises will depend in part on your preference for practitioner, whether you are seeking psychological assessment or therapy services and the times you are available to attend appointments. We will advise you if there is likely to be a significant wait before we will offer you an appointment.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 48 hours to cancel or reschedule a therapy appointment. Appointments missed or rescheduled without 48 hours' notice will incur half of the full fee. Appointments missed or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice will incur the full fee which you must pay prior to your next scheduled appointment.
We require one week’s notice to cancel or reschedule an assessment. Assessments missed or rescheduled less than 5 working days will incur half of the allotted session fee. Assessments missed or rescheduled less than 48 hours will incur the full session fee.
